Jonathan has 20 years’ experience in the hotel and real estate sectors.
Since September 2015, Jonathan has been charged with creating and delivering new industry focused courses in Hotel Asset Management (HAM) and Hotel Planning and Development, as a senior lecturer, for Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne in Switzerland. 320 students recently completed the HAM course, which is the first full-time core university-level course in Europe.
He is also chairman of HoCoSo, a Swiss-based company, which is focused on investment, development, asset management and advisory services within the extended-stay hotel and serviced apartment sectors in Europe; hotel development and investment in Africa; plus student and executive education globally.
During 2014-15, he was on the Serviced Apartment Advisory Board of the British Hotel Association and was on the advisory committee which created the Serviced Apartment Charter for the UK.
For 11 years he covered EMEA, supporting the expansion of Marriott International’s 15 brands, including Ritz-Carlton, for hundreds of projects, in the role of VP development planning, based out of the regional HQ in Zurich. During this time, Jonathan created a tailor-made, customer-and-investor-focused, European extended-stay Residence Inn by Marriott concept and was instrumental in the subsequent successful rollout. During his career, Jonathan has been engaged on portfolio and individual hotel acquisitions in the US (with Arthur Andersen) and Europe (with Deloitte), renovations, extensions, re-brandings, contract extensions and terminations and created strategic development road maps for the African Continent, and countries and cities across EMEA.
He holds an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
For several years he was a student mentor for the MSc Real Estate students from Reading University in the UK. He started his career in operations with Forte Hotels in the UK.
