Dublin-based Staycity Aparthotels is one of Europe’s fastest growing aparthotel operators. The company was founded in 2004 by Tom Walsh, and his brother Ger, having spotted a market for a mid-spend, user-friendly alternative to traditional hotel accommodation.
Staycity now operates some 1,400 apartments across eight European cities including Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Paris and York. Staycity is on target to expand to 15,000 apartments by 2021 with another premises due to open later this year in Marseille and further openings next year in London Covent Garden, Lyon, Liverpool and Manchester.
All Staycity Aparthotels offer 24-hour reception with many offering private car parking facilities on site as well as fully equipped kitchens with dining area, sitting area and bathroom. Additional features include complimentary Wi-Fi access and flat screen TV and weekly housekeeping. Some premises also have a café and lounge area suitable for working, relaxing or holding informal meetings. In 2015 Staycity was inducted into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame, having won a Certificate of Excellence award for its Birmingham (Arcadian Centre) and Dublin (Saint Augustine Street) locations for five consecutive years. In the same year Staycity was also awarded the “Industry Breakthrough Award” by the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP).
