Criton is the UK's first DIY app builder for the hospitality industry.

Criton is a DIY app builder for the hospitality industry. It allows hospitality accommodation providers to build their own guest welcome app. Guests can download the app prior to their arrival on their own devices (smartphones and tablets) and have access to all the information they will need and want during their stay (what to do, how to work appliances, what is the Wi-Fi password etc.). Accommodation providers can update the content at any time from their dashboard and use great tools to engage their guests such as push notifications or guest messaging.

The company was founded by Julie Grieve. Prior to founding Criton, she ran a luxury serviced apartment business in Edinburgh called Lateral City. When setting them up, she created a guest information book, which took a significant amount of time and money and yet as soon as it was printed and in the apartments, she realised it was out of date as a local restaurant had closed down.At the same time, she had re-written instructions for the boiler in her holiday home because guests found it difficult to operate. She wondered if there was a way she could make a video of how to use it and if she made it where would she store it and what might that costs? This led her to look for an innovative way to help her guests have the information they needed at their fingertips, and Criton, the app builder for the hospitality industry, was born.

Recently, the company received a £5 million investment and is now growing significantly. We believe guests only want to download one app for their stay. Therefore, we are adding great guest-facing technology and integrating with the best hospitality technology such as Property Management Systems, electronic key systems and more. Our goal is to make astonishing guest experience a reality.
